If you are experiencing difficulties in running a test, or have a query regarding our products & services, please read the following frequently asked questions which cover some of the most common questions we are asked about our testing system.
What kind of assessments are available?
We offer hundreds of behavioural, cognitive, and skill-based testing. Select a test from our extensive pre-built assessment assortment, or work with us to create a customised assessment, specific to your organisation.

How can assessments help me reduce company turnover?
Tests are an important component of achieving the proper fit between the applicant & the available job. Matching the right employee to the right job leads to increased employee satisfaction, increased productivity, & ultimately reduced turnover.
Can I see a test before I purchase it?
Yes, we can offer you a practice test for you to take in order to get a feel for whether the test is what you are after and also in terms of the difficulty level.
Sample report results can also be downloaded online or can be emailed over.
How long will it take to set up my account?
Once you have signed the order form and returned back, our team will start setting up your account! This can take between 15-30 minutes, you will then have full access to what you have paid for.
I don’t know what tests my candidates will need to take for the job role, can you help?
Yes of course, we have a dedicated Consulting Team who can provide consultations regarding the job roles to help you choose which tests will measure the skills you are looking for.

Who can or will be administering the tests?
You have 2 options available: 1) you can be set up as an administrator on the platform, you will then have training to administer the tests yourself. 2) Alternatively Skillsarena provide a service whereby we can do this for you.
Can I administer these tests off-site?
Yes, tests are web-based and so can be taken on-site within the organisation as part of the interview process or taken by the candidate off-site prior to coming in.
Will I get training on how to use the platform?
Yes, we provide unlimited free telephone training to you and any of your administrators on the account.
What does the candidate need to take the test?
The candidates will need a stable internet connection and a computer or laptop.
What if my candidates have any questions regarding the tests?
We have a dedicated IT support team who are there to take your candidates questions between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Call 0203 693 2205 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Do I have to mark the tests myself?
No, all of the marking is done online for you and presented in the final report. The scores are measured in a couple of ways so you can truly see how well your candidates have done.
**The only exception to this is if you have chosen an In-Tray Exercise as the candidate has to free hand write a written response to the scenario. This will require manual marking.
Do I need any training to interpret the tests results?
No, all of our result reports are easy to read and interpret, you will not need any training or assistance when looking at the results.
As a candidate, can I purchase a test for practice?
No unfortunately, we only offer tests & assessments at a business level.
How long do the tests take to complete?
Each test varies in terms of how long it will take to complete. For each test, the time frame allowed in order to take the test will be confirmed in the instructions before you start.
How many attempts do I have to take a test?
You will only have one attempt to take a test. A practice test question is available for you to get a feel for the test style and also to see if you have any technical issues in viewing the test.

I have multiple tests to take, do I have to complete them all in one sitting?
No, you can log back in as many times as you like so you can take the tests at times that suit you.
I have clicked ``FINISH`` or ``END TEST`` by mistake?
Unfortunately by doing this, you have completed the test and you are not able to re-take or pick up where you left off. In this instance, you will need to contact the person who assigned you the test to see what options are available to you.
It is showing that a test is ``locked``?
A test becomes locked if it has been attempted more than once. Please contact the help desk to unlock by phoning 0203 693 2205 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
What are the requirements for your testing software?
Our testing software requires Windows XP or above with either Internet Explorer 7 and above, Firefox v16 and above, Safari 5.1.7 and above, Google Chrome and Adobe flash player 8 or above. MacOSx 10.5 or higher with Firefox v16 or above and Adobe flash player 8 or above is supported for flash based tests.
What is the recommended minimum spec for running Skillsarena Enterprise?
- Windows XP with 256Mb RAM (min), 512Mb recommended with 1.5GHz processor or better.
- Windows Vista/7 with 1Gb RAM (min), 2Gb recommended with 2GHz processor or better.
- Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3 or better, and Adobe Flash player 8 or better.
- MacOSX 10.4 with intel processor and 1Gb RAM or better.
- Firefox 3 or better, and Adobe Flash player 8 or better.
- Stable ADSL or Cable broadband connection with 1MBps transfer rate or better.
What is the screen resolution that is recommended?
A minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 1024 is recommend with browser running in full screen mode.
Adobe Flash Player – Script not responding
You will need to install Flash Player onto your computer or laptop. After re-starting your computer or laptop, this problem should be fixed.
My computer has crashed halfway through the test, what should I do?
The test system is designed to fail safe in the event of a computer crash. If this happens, please close all open browser windows and proceed to log into the test system again. Your test should restart from where it left off.
I have logged into the system, and run the system check, but it says I do not have Authorware installed, how do I install this on my system?
The Authorware Web Player is available at the following link: Authorware Web Player. Note: Authorware is only required for a small number of tests (Outlook XP, Word XP, PowerPoint XP, Excel XP, Access XP, and Sage Line 50).
I have loaded the test, but I have received a page with a frosted blue colour and a black question box in the middle of the screen, what should I do now?
This is part of the normal test loading process. Please click the green tick icon once you have read the first question to agree and start the test.
I am using Internet Explorer and I have received an access denied error, a loading files error or a permanent ``Made with Macromedia`` message when I start the test.
This problem is caused by the settings in your internet browser. However, it is a simple procedure to correct these settings.
First, if you are on Windows Vista or Windows 7, please go to your browser and turn off protected mode. To do this, go to Tools > Internet Options, then click on the security tab. Near the bottom of the page there is an option labelled “Enable protected mode.” Untick this box. When you get the security warning message, click on OK.
After completing the above process, and also for Windows XP, please go to Tools > Internet Options and then security. Click on trusted sites, then on the sites button. Untick the box where it says “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” In the box where it says “Add this website to the zone:” type “http://www.skillsarena.com” and click Add, then add: “http://skillstesting.skillsarena.com” and also add: “*.skillsarena.com” and “*.skillsarenacorporate.com” check that under Websites: “www.skillsarena.com” is listed then click close.
I cannot see a next question button.
This is usually caused by the screen resolution on your computer being too low for the buttons at the bottom of the test window to be visible. Please change your screen resolution to a higher setting to be able to see these buttons.
