What is an Attention Skills test?

An Attention Skills Test is an assessment designed to measure a person's ability to focus, concentrate, and maintain attention over a period of time. These tests evaluate how well someone can process information, avoid distractions, and stay mentally engaged with a task—skills that are essential for learning, working, and safely performing everyday activities.

Attention tests often involve tasks such as identifying patterns, detecting errors, reacting quickly to visual or auditory cues, or remembering sequences of information. For example, a test might ask you to press a button every time a specific shape appears on the screen or to spot differences between two images. The purpose is to assess different types of attention, including sustained attention (staying focused over time), selective attention (focusing on relevant information while ignoring distractions), and divided attention (handling more than one task at once).
